The Bedroom Musician Series
The Bedroom Musician Series is a music driven series made up of four collective categories.
The categories are Pop/Folk, Jazz, Voices and Musical Comedy. At present, the running series
of Pop/Folk category has already been launched and it is being hosted and under the clever control of
Azzura, a new and upcoming master of ceremony. The main section consists of selected
headliners who will play mostly original material with occasional covers as a tribute to their own
respective aspiring songwriters. Mia Palencia and her kindred spirits are the current headliners
for Pop/Folk; other categories are now undergoing auditions. The middle section will feature supporting
acts that are carefully selected by the Bedroom Musician Series Committee. Headliners and supporting
acts of songwriters and musicians may be recommended to perform at the up and coming Minstrel Musings Festival.
The Bedroom Musician Series is somewhat like an ongoing moving production with the intent
to tour Malaysia. The main objective is to inject greater value, and to create a fresh buzz and a source of
inspiration in the local arena of entertainment. The Bedroom Musician Series also encourages exposure
and lends support to serious aspiring songwriters and musicians. The Bedroom Musician Seriesaspires to
reach and play to a record breaking cheering audience.
The Bedroom Musician Series looks forward to engaging support from Malaysia's own songwriters,
musicians, music lovers, public, media, entertainment outlets and good corporate citizens. Their support
will contribute to developing and preserving our local heritage of talented individuals, showing their
active presence in the entertainment arena and enhancing Malaysia's performing arts scene.
To further promote public appeal, Mia Palencia and several of her respectful fellow musicians pledge
FREE voice workshops and master classes to our audience, songwriters and musicians. For upcoming
unsigned songwriters, they may be offered by Mia Palencia herself to be recruited and signed under her
personal umbrella of songwriters, Mia Production and Publishing House.
The Bedroom Musician Series was created by, and each show is produced by, Mia-Germain Palencia.
It is an introduction to the build up of "Minstrel Musings" – The 1st Annual Mia Palencia Songwriter's
Festival. It is a Mia Palencia Project. Brabons Entertainment is the organiser of The Bedroom Musician Series and
Minstrel Musings Festival.
The 1st Bedroom Musician Series was launched on the 1st December, 2006 at No Black Tie,
a notable and famous entertainment address in the heart of The Klang Valley.
More information for the categories of Jazz, Voices, Musical Comedy and FREE classes will be available in due time.
THE CREATOR
Mia Palencia is a Malaysian upcoming songwriter who is contracted with Warner Chappell, Hong Kong.
Some of her songs have been successfully recorded in Chinese by the likes of famous Taiwan artistes Harlem Yu and
Garden Sisters. One of her songs, "She Says", can be found as the sound track
in the preview for the movie "Tokyo Juliet".
Mia Palencia released her first single "Sayang" on 2nd September, 2006 and is scheduled to
release her full album "Finding My Way" in the first half of 2007. She is a member of
Malaysia's local famous duo "Double Take" and has recorded two albums: One Voice, 6 Strings,
Twelve Moods; and One Voice, Six Strings, Twelve Days of Christmas. Mia Palencia's original
work is also found in both albums. What seems credible and worthy about Double Take in the local music
scene is that both Double Take the artistes and their albums have been reviewed by an American music
writer and critic, Jim Trageser, who lives in San Diego, California. These articles may be read
at www.turbula.net from the Fall 2003 issue and
were also published the North County Times, San Diego, in December 2005 alongside reviews of world renowned
jazz musician, Diana Krall. As a songwriter and musician, it is of relative importance to have the
substance of American appeal, gaining exposure, and presence in their marketplace.
Mia as a 22 year old songwriter musician is actively on the look out for ways to help improve the
present status quo of Malaysia's performing arts scene. She believes there is an abundance of local
aspiring talent impatiently waiting for the right opportunity to grow and develop into successful artistes.
She is also aware that there is an urgent need in Malaysia to build upon a source of inspiration to
preserve and perhaps protect such heritage. She aspires to be instrumental to the growth and development
of Malaysia's local music industry.
The Savoy Club, Swinging Down to Business, The Summer Jazz Series and The Falalas - A Christmas Choir Project
are some noteworthy ongoing projects also created by or in collaboration with Mia Palencia herself. Mia gives
private vocal coaching and loves working particularly with children.

THE BEDROOM MUSICIAN SERIES COMMITTEE
The committee is composed by the creator herself, Mia Palencia, where she carefully selects
personalities of various trends and generations as well as musicians, including songwriters,
of all genres of music.
The criteria for each committee member are first to have an ear for talent, and next
to uphold and be intensely committed to the quality of talent, potential and growth of songwriters,
musicians, singers and performers. They are expected to be professionals who will conduct their assessment
under the strict guidelines they as a committee collectively construct. All discussions within the
committee remain private and confidential.
A good committee composition makes the program component more credible, shows due respect to the
talented individuals and assures them the necessary visibility to further their career. The committee
will be the unifying force within the music community and the community at large.
