Invitation to Make Malaysian History
Be a part of the Double Take "Made in Malaysia" Concert! Brabons Entertainment
is inviting you to support us in this historic project. We're currently seeking
a show of support through sponsorship, a collective community effort or even
just plain, traditional patriotism.
Dear Friends of Double Take,
This is probably the most important letter I have ever sat down to write. It is important because it is about all of us. For the past two months we have been planning an event that is of the utmost importance yet so tough to put together. Yes! It is about making Malaysian history, in fact perhaps even world history!
It’s also about a very important role that Mia has recently, seriously and graciously accepted. It is in line with her duties and responsibilities as MAKNA’s ambassadress to the urban youth. It is about being involved in a goal to set a record. It’s about writing and singing a song for our country and being heard. It’s about beautiful people working together to leave a legacy. It’s about two people taking these big steps in their lives by dedicating their talents to the youth and Malaysia. It’s about two people who are proud to be Malaysian. It’s about One Voice and Six Strings. It’s about so many dreams that cannot come true without the help of each and every one of you! It has everything to do with the community we operate in; it’s about all of us!
First we write the music, Double Take Made in Malaysia is set to go! Our press conference is at 4pm, Friday the 28th of October and we are so excited! Our treasured friends at Hotel Equatorial have so graciously agreed to host us. In fact, Hotel Equatorial will be the second home for Mia and Roger over the next 45 days. What can I say, it’s a Double Take choice! Alas, once again, we feel the pressure of hoping for the largest turnout by the press!
We will have our last public performance before the coming Christmas album launch on Saturday the 29th at a new Double Take’s friend’s place, The Backyard Pub and Grill. Double Take was impressed with Jerry’s unsung charitable deeds and therefore, we see you there? No cover, no tickets, no reservations, no freeloaders please! It’s at 9pm sharp and on Jerry, thank you. Come and cheer us on!
Then begins our road shows to as many schools, colleges and universities that will have us. This also begins Mia’s undertaking to fulfil her new duties and responsibilities in creating cancer awareness and inspiring charity, tying it in with doing what she loves most.
Kota Kinabalu, our hometown, will see us this 7th of November, a Monday, showing off Double Take’s first Christmas album at Gayana Aru casual dining at 7pm. Double Take will also be showcased at Coffee Bean, Damai, who have also graciously consented to help us sell our Christmas albums in Sabah.
On Friday and Saturday the 11th and 12th of November we will be at Alexis Ampang for the Kuala Lumpur launch of our Christmas album. Please come and support Mia and Roger, we start at 10pm.
After that, we make our way to the bookworms at MPH stores, on Monday and Tuesday the 14th and 15th during the early evenings, so check out their newsletters for more info. Double Take Christmas albums will also be available to grab as a Christmas gift in case you run out of ideas.
We will continue our showcases at Starbucks, colleges, universities – stay connected to our web site www.brabonsentertainment.com for the latest news, updates and great prizes to win. Adam promises to keep you informed right after our press conference, sound check will be over, thank you so much Adam and Vanessa.
Saturday 26th November, Mia teams up with David Gomes at WWF raising funds for the preservation of the white tiger.
Friday 2nd December, guitar workshop at ASK by Roger and in the evening he plays with Steve White from USA. Check this out at www.rogerwang.net.
Double Take goes to Melaka on Saturday 3rd December, for another charity event.
The Australian High Commissioner invites us into his home on Wednesday 7th December to help us promote our music to the MABC and MNZBC. We want to convince them to go to the concert. According to Mia, our new musician friends in Tasmania are trying very hard to raise funds to come to Malaysia to play with Double Take; we send our best wishes and a big portion of good luck!
The Bankers’ Club also invites us for the same on the 9th of December. Accountants? We are still trying to tap into that market and look forward to a warm reception.
Today we play the music, 8.30pm, Sunday 11th December 2005, Stadium Negara, “The Largest Jazz Concert by a Duo”. This attempt is endorsed by the Malaysia Book of Records and supported by The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, and is in support of MAKNA. One Voice, Six Strings and lots of love, Double Take Made in Malaysia.
Please come to the concert, we want to know that we can count on all of you!
Last but not least, may I take this time to thank our proud sponsors who have opened their hearts, taken time out to work on a creative level and given us their wholehearted support and encouragement. It is with great honour that I personally invite all of them to sit at our bestest seats with me. The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, our press, Hotel Equatorial, Light and Easy, Coca-Cola Light, the Malaysia Book of Records, AER, the Guitar Store, MPH, Starbucks and Coffee Bean East Malaysia. May I have the pleasure of MAKNA’s presence as well.
